About

Join us for a wonderful experience with nature, culture and history. A combined boat ride and a challenging nature hike.

In a seaworthy fast going boat (RIB) we take you on a safe adventure along the dramatic wall of Lofoten into Lofotodden National Park, through the Maelstrom and past deserted fishing villages to Yttersia and Helle.

The boat driver will meet you at our office in Reine where your floatation suits will be provided. Our boat drivers have all the necessary certificates, are very familiar with the waters and conditions in the area and excellent local knowledge.

Once everyone has found themselves comfortable on board, we begin our journey westward along the Lofoten Wall and the outer coastline. On the way out we pass through the famous Maelstrom. Having rounded the tip of Lofoten we go ashore in Lofotodden National Park close to the remains of the village Helle.

We walk parts of the old school route along its original path until we come to a steep incline that will lead to the top of the mountain, Hellsegga (544 moh). On a clear day you will see as far as Mosken and Værøy and even the island of Røst! For most of the climb we will have a unique view of the spectacular Maelstrom below us. This is a very steep hike in challenging terrain. The hike will take about 1.5 to 2 hours each way. A guide will be with you for the whole trip. Please make sure you bring enough drinking water (minimum 0,5l) and some food/snacks.

On the top of Hellsegga, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent scenery, the views and the tranquility of Lofotodden National Park, before we start the steep hike back to the boat.
