Mixed Holidays
Adventure Holidays with a Variation of Activities
Holiday combinations that provide a bit of everything: culture/history, nature/wildlife, active participation, and relaxed enjoyment.
Summer
4 nights / 3 days with RIB and walking tours, fishing and sightseeing
Fishing Trip
During the fishing trip, you’ll learn how to use the traditional fishing equipment “juksahjulet”, and you will be responsible for actively catching the fish. You’ll work together in pairs at the fishing stations, so this is a great trip for families with children, who will get the necessary guidance along the way. The skipper will handle gutting the fish, and you will of course be able to take it with you so that you can prepare a meal together after the trip.
RIB and Walking Tours
The History of Lofoten and Refsvikhula Cave tour is a RIB trip with a subsequent walk/hike in Lofotodden National Park. We won’t be hiking very high up, but the route will take us along natural surroundings with a path in hilly terrain, over piles of rocks, and finally down to a beautiful sandy beach. The highlight of the trip is the 3,000-4,000-year-old cave paintings in Refsvikhula.
Beach Life at Yttersia
Bunesstranda is a beautiful beach on the north side of Moskenesøya island, a place known as Yttersia. After a short boat trip across the Reinefjord, you will be dropped off at the village of Vinstad. From there, you’ll take on an easy, 40-minute walk/hike up Einangen hill where you’ll be able to enjoy a great view of Bunesstranda beach. For anyone who wants to head down to the beach for a dip in the sea, we recommend bringing swimwear along on the trip.
Winter
3 nights / 2 days with fishing and sightseeing
Fishing Trip
During the fishing trip you will learn how to use Lofoten’s traditional fishing equipment known as the “juksahjulet” and will actively participate in catching fish. You’ll work together in pairs at the fishing stations, so this is a great trip for families with children, who will get the necessary guidance along the way. The skipper will handle gutting the fish, and you will of course be able to take it with you so that you can prepare a meal together after the trip. The experience of fishing in Lofoten during the winter is truly something out of the ordinary. You will experience “the authentic Lofoten” during the high season for the region’s local fishermen.
Sightseeing in the Reinefjord
Starting in Reine, join our local guide and skipper on a spectacular journey deep into the Reinefjord’s arms. During the tour you’ll hear historical stories about the small villages that dot the fjords’ coastlines and get exciting insight into how life unfolded when the remote, and now partially abandoned, ‘fiskevær’ fishing villages were still active settlements.
Accommodation
We recommend staying at Lofoten Bed & Breakfast in Reine. Choosing this option will mean that you’ll be in contact with the same people in terms of accommodation and activities, which can make your trip easier. You can also book everything directly via Lofoten Bed & Breakfast’s booking page.
Families
We recommend a family room or apartment, with room for three to six people. You might prefer a family room with a kitchen. All apartments are equipped with a kitchen.
Friends and couples
We recommend double rooms or family rooms so that you’ll have a little more space. An apartment with room for small social gatherings and dinners is also possible.
